Getting Started

When I was growing up, I wasn’t into crocheting. I was able to crochet strings & basics but it just wasn’t my thing. I was deep into cross-stitching most of my life. My mom crocheted and I always found it amazing. Mom would crochet with the thin string & make doilies. I don’t really remember her making anything with yarn. I found out after my grandma died (my mom’s mom) that she also crochet and I lovingly inherited some pieces from her. I’ll truthfully say, I’m not sure which pieces below were made by my mom & which were made by my grandma.

I’m not sure who made this but this one is sitting on my shelf.

A few years ago when I was still married, I tried crocheting & knitting but I guess it just wasn’t in the cards at that time. I tried again a few years ago, but again, I wanted to do the big elaborate stuff & I would get lost. I ended taking a class which helped me a great deal with my tension which is one of the things I was having major issues with. I then made some coasters & did pretty well but I was busy at work and moving and again tried to tackle the hard things too quickly.

So…. last fall after again trying to start a complex pattern, I realized I needed to do a bunch of easy ones. That worked!!!!  Now, I’m hooked (pun intended)!
